McKenzie Canty attended Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina where she graduated in the top 15% of her class. Prior to attending law school, she obtained two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During law school, McKenzie clerked for the Honorable Judge Lucy Inman at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and served as a legal intern at the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office, as well as interning at a boutique firm in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

McKenzie began her career as an attorney in criminal defense work and general practice. In 2019, she began working exclusively in family law. Since McKenzie began working in family law, she has represented clients on cases ranging from child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, spousal support, domestic violence and family law appellate cases. McKenzie has developed a primary focus on child custody and child support matters. McKenzie works passionately within the LGBTQIA+ community to ensure rights for same-sex parents and secure name changes for transgender individuals.

Outside of practicing law, she enjoys hiking and paddleboarding with her three dogs. She also enjoys listening to music and attending concerts of all genres. When the opportunity presents itself, McKenzie also enjoys traveling both domestically and internationally.
